Joan Martinez is a Postdoctoral Research Scholar at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley and a WAPPP Research Fellow at Harvard Kennedy School. She earned her PhD in Economics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 2023. Before her doctoral studies, Joan obtained an MSc from University College London.

Joan is a Labor Economist. Her research primarily focuses on topics within labor and education, investigating the underlying causes of inequality in educational settings, human capital development, and labor markets.
