Julie is a Senior Research Fellow at the University of Melbourne. She holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Paris 1 (June 2009) and graduated from the French National School of Statistics and Economic Administration (Ensae) in 2005.
Her research agenda revolves around issues related to disadvantage over the life course in the areas of education, housing, health and labour economics. She participated in designing the Journeys Home Survey (a longitudinal study of Australians who are homeless or at-risk of homelessness) and is involved in several projects related to extreme disadvantage, including homelessness & precarious housing, substance use and incarceration. Her research also focuses on gender with recent papers investigating gender gaps in education, gender differences in the effect of school-starting-age and mothers’ labour supply.

Julie joined IZA as a Research Fellow in December 2017.
