Robert Mahlstedt is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the University of Copenhagen. He completed his PhD at the University of Potsdam in 2017.

His research interests include the evaluation of public policies, labor economics, behavioral economics and microeconometrics. His current work focuses on the relevance of psychological motives and behavioral economic concepts for the job search behavior of unemployed workers and subsequent labor market outcomes.

Robert was a Resident Research Affiliate at IZA from 2012 until April 2017. He became a Research Affiliate in May 2017 and Research Fellow in 2024. He was a Visiting Research Fellow from February 2021 - 2023.
