Breno Sampaio is Associate Professor in the Department of Economics at Universidade Federal de Pernambuco/UFPE, Director of the Group for the Economic Evaluation of Public Policies (GAPPE.org) and research fellow at CLEAN Unit on the Economic Analysis of Crime - Baffi-Carefin Centre at Bocconi University. He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign/UIUC in 2011.

His research interests include economics of crime, labor economics, health economics and development economics.

Breno Sampaio joined IZA as a Research Fellow in July 2020.
