Amanda Gaulke is an Associate Professor of Economics at Kansas State University

Her research falls into three main areas 1) family economics (parental labor supply and parental mental health are impacted by a child’s health shock, sibling educational achievement and educational pathways are impacted by the focal child’s health shock, high SES families can mitigate the impact of a childhood health shock on adult labor market outcomes); 2) how health impacts human capital accumulation (how a childhood health shock impacts standardized test scores, school absenteeism, exit exam GPAs and educational attainment); and 3) economics of education (the economic return for students who re-enroll and complete their bachelor’s degree, the economic return to off-the-job training by formal level of education, and the economic return to post-baccalaureate business certificates).

Amanda Gaulke received a B.A. in economics and Spanish from Lake Forest College and a M.S. and a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Wisconsin – Madison.
