Emiko Usui is a professor at Hitotsubashi University, Japan. She received her B.A. in economics from the University of Tokyo and her Ph.D. in Economics from Northwestern University. Her research interests are in labor economics, including gender differences in the labor market, employment of older persons, college major choice, advancement of women in STEM fields, and work-style reform. Her research papers have been published in such academic journals as Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Labour Economics, Quantitative Economics, and Research in Labor Economics.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2009.
