Monica Roman has completed a Ph.D. at the Bucharest University of Economic Studies (2001). Since 2007, she is a professor at the University's Department of Statistics and Econometrics and teaches Business Statistics, Econometrics and Quantitative Research Methods.

Monica Roman is interested in topics linking the fields of labor and demographic economics, regional studies and transition economies. Her research included empirical works about international migration, regional development, transition economies, research and higher education and policy evaluation.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in August 2011.
