Jennifer P. Poole

Jennifer P. Poole is an Assistant Professor in the School of International Service at American University. Poole holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of California, San Diego and a B.A. in Economics from Smith College. She also served as Senior International Economist at the Executive Office of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers. She has previously been employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of New York and the International Labor Organization, and has been a visiting scholar at the World Bank, the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia, and the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco. Her research and teaching interests fall at the intersection of international trade, labor economics, and development economics. With an emphasis on Brazil, Professor Poole’s broad research agenda considers the effects of global integration on local labor markets. In particular, recent work investigates information transfer in international trade and investment and the impact of globalization on factor reallocation and factor prices. Her research has been published in journals such as the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of International Economics, and World Development.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2014.
