Simon Commander received his B.A. from Oxford University in 1975 and his PhD from Cambridge University in 1980. He worked for 15 years at the World Bank in Washington DC starting in 1988. Subsequently, he has been Senior Adviser at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Director of the Centre for New and Emerging Markets at London Business School. He is currently Professor at IE Business School and Managing Partner at Altura Partners. He has published widely including books, articles and working papers (see CV).
His research interests include labour economics, income determination, inflation, comparative economic systems and economic policy.
He is extensively involved in advisory work of a policy and strategic nature principally with emerging market governments.
Simon Commander joined IZA as a Research Fellow in December 1999.
