Richard Dickens is Professor of Economics and Head of the Department of Economics at the University of Sussex. He was appointed as an Independent Member of the UK Low Pay Commission in June 2014. He has previously held academic positions at the Centre for Economic Performance, London School of Economics and Queen Mary, University of London and has held visiting positions at the University of Melbourne, Australian National University and the National Bureau for Economic Research in Boston, USA. His research focusses on labour markets, minimum wages and inequality and poverty.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2014.
