Paulo Guimarães is currently Senior Researcher at the University of Porto and part-time Research Associate professor at the University of South Carolina. He has held previous positions at the Medical University of South Carolina, the University of Minho and the University of Porto.
He earned his Ph.D. in Economics at the University of South Carolina in 1992. Dr. Guimarães' primary research interests are in applied microeconometrics with particular emphasis in regional and industrial economics. Some of his recent publications include articles in the Econometrics Journal, Economics Letters, Journal of Regional Science, Journal of Urban Economics, Regional Science and Urban Economics and the Review of Economics and Statistics.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in January 2009.
