Gustav Feichtinger ist Full Professor for Operations Research at the Vienna University of Technology. He is Head of the Research Group ORDYS (Operations Research and Nonlinear Dynamical Systems). Moreover, he leads the Research Unit 'Population Economics' at the Vienna Institute of Demography of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. He is a graduate in mathematics and physics of the University of Vienna. His habilitation in statistics and demography is from the University of Bonn. His current research activities are concerned with applications of optimal control and dynamic games in economics. He is particularly interested in nonlinear dynamical systems arising in population dynamics and economics. During the last ten years he worked in the economic of 'deviant' behavior (illicit drug consumption, corruption, violence and international terrorism), social interactions (e.g. housing) and epidemiology (HIV/AIDS). He has published in Journal of Economic Dynamics and Control, Journal of Economic Theory, Economic Theory, American Economic Review, Journal of Optimization Theory and Applications, Population Studies, Population and Development Review, Operations Research, Management Science etc.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in February 2006.
