Research Interests

Fernando Lozano is the Morris B. and Gladys S. Pendleton Professor of Economics at Pomona College. Fernando recieved his PhD in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. He serves as co-chair of California’s Governor’s Council of Economic Advisors and is an economist at the Inland Empire Economic Partnership.

Fernando is a labor economist whose research focuses on immigration, labor supply and leisure trends. He is a Research Fellow at the Institute for the Study of Labor IZA in Bonn, Germany. His research has been published in the American Economic Review, Journal of Labor Economics, among other academic journals.

Fernando Lozano was president of the American Society of Hispanic Economists, was a member of the American Economic Association Committee in the Status of Minority Groups in the Economics Profession, a mentor in the Diversity Initiative for Tenure in Economics, and the American Economic Association Mentoring Program.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in May 2009.
