Victoria Prowse is the Magner Chair and an Associate Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics at Purdue University. Victoria has a PhD in Economics from the University of Oxford and was previously an Associate Professor at Cornell University.

Victoria's research interests are in the fields of labor economics, public economics, experimental economics, and applied econometrics. In her research, Victoria aims to evaluate and make prospective recommendations about economic policies and programs that affect the wellbeing and prosperity of individuals and families through effects on education and skills, income, and behaviors in the labor market.

In more detail, Victoria's research involves the collection and analysis of detailed data to elucidate on the decision processes underlying individuals' choices; she has researched the underpinnings of a wide range of behaviors including the behavior of families over the life course, student behavior context of higher eduction, and individual behavior in small group interactions. Based on insights from these analyses and direct statistical analysis of economic data, Victoria's research has studied public policies, such as public pension programs, income taxation, unemployment Insurance and welfare benefits, employer policies, including employee compensation schemes and performance evaluation programs, as well educational programs designed to motivate students.

Victoria's research has been published in peer reviewed journals such as the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, the Journal of Econometrics, the Review of Economics and Statistics, the Journal of Business and Economic Statistics, Quantitative Economics, and Management Science.

She joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2005 and became a Research Fellow in May 2008.
