Cara Ebert is head of the Research Group Global Migration at RWI – Leibniz Institute for Economic Research and head of RWI's Berlin Office.

Cara studied Economics at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the University of California Santa Barbara and the University of Amsterdam, and completed her PhD (summa cum laude) in Economics at the University of Göttingen. For her PhD dissertation Cara was awarded the Young Researcher Award of the German Economic Association’s Research Group on Development Economics. She is also a former fellow of the Joachim Herz Foundation.

Research interests:
Development economics, migration, health, gender.

Cara Ebert joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in January 2021. She is an IZA Research Fellow since January 2025.
