Didier Fouarge is director of the Research Centre for Education and the Labour Market (ROA), Maastricht University, and programme director of the Labour Market and Training research programme at ROA. He holds a Chair of “Dynamics of skills allocation” at the School of Business and Economics at Maastricht University. He studied economics at the Facultés Universitaires Notre-Dame de la Paix (FUNDP) in Namur, Belgium. He holds a PhD from Tilburg University on the topic of poverty dynamics and social policy in Europe. He has been working at ROA since 2007, and has been a member of ROA’s Management Team since 2014. His main research interests reside in scientific and applied research on occupational and educational choice, labour market dynamics, labour supply decision (working time, retirement), and human capital and skills formation.

He published in journals such as Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, British Journal of Industrial Relations, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Papers in Regional Science, Applied Economics, The International Journal of Manpower, LABOUR, De Economist, The International Journal of Human Resource Management, Economics of Innovation and New Technology, Journal of Social Policy, Social Indicators Research, Journal of Applied Social Science Studies, as well as in Dutch national journals (including ESB, Tijdschrift voor Arbeidsvraagstukken, Tijdschrift voor HRM, THEMA Hoger Onderwijs). He is IZA, GSBE and Netspar research fellow, and Secretary of the European Association for Labour Economists (EALE).
