Walter Steingress is currently Principal Researcher in the International Department at the Bank of Canada. He earned his PhD from the University of Montreal and holds a master degree from Boston University. Before joining the Bank of Canada, Walter held an appointment at the Banque de France. His research focuses on the fields of International Macroeconomics, Trade and Migration.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in May 2015.
