Javier Ortega received his PhD from DELTA (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris) in 1996. He is a Professor in Economics at Kingston University London. He is also an External Research Fellow of CReAM.

His main areas of interest are Labour Economics and Political Economy.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in January 2004.
