Samuel Mühlemann is a Professor of Human Resource Education and Development at the University of Munich. Previously he was the deputy head of the Centre for Research in Economics of Education and a lecturer at the Department of Economics at the University of Bern. In 2013/14 he was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Berkeley (Institute for Research on Labor and Employment IRLE). He received his Ph.D. from the University of Bern in December 2008.

His research interests include Economics of Education, Industrial Relations, Labor Economics, and Personnel Economics. Among others he has published articles in the European Economic Review, Economics of Education Review, Empirical Research in Vocational Education and Training, German Economic Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, Industrial Relations, Labour Economics, and Regional Science and Urban Economics.

He joined IZA as a Research Affiliate in March 2008 and became a Research Fellow in December 2011.
