Keith Bender is the SIRE Professor of Economics in the Department of Economics and the Centre for European Labour Market Research at the University of Aberdeen, UK. He graduated from Furman University with a BA in Economics and then earned a MA and PhD in Economics from Duke University. Before joining Aberdeen, he had previous positions at the US Social Security Administration and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee and visiting positions at Louisiana State University, Flinders University and Giessen University.

He works in a number of applied labour economics areas including the interactions between employment contracts and health, educational mismatch, and the role of institutions (e.g. trade unions and the public sector) on labour market outcomes. His research has been published in Oxford Economic Papers, Economic Inquiry, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Journal of Population Economics, Economics of Education Review, Industrial and Labor Relations Review, and the Scottish Journal of Political Economy.

He is currently an Associate Editor at the British Journal of Industrial Relations.
