Claudio Labanca is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Monash University in Melbourne. He received his PhD from the University of California, San Diego and his MSc and B.A. from Bocconi University in Milan.

Dr Labanca’s research interests are in Labor Economics and Applied Microeconomics. His research covers a range of core topics in labor economics such as wage and productivity differentials across firms, the effects of taxation on the supply of labor and the impact of migration on local labor markets. In his work he pays particular attention to the role played by the interaction between worker and firm behavior in shaping demand and supply of labor, wages and productivity. To uncover these interactions, he applies econometric techniques to detailed matched employer-employee data.

Dr Labanca is a Research Affiliate at the Tax and Transfer Policy Institute of the Australian National University, a Research Affiliate at the Center for Development Economics and Sustainability at Monash University; and a Principal Investigator at the SoDA Laboratories at Monash University.

Claudio Labanca became an IZA Research Affiliate in May 2023.
