Alwine Mohnen studied economics at the University of Bonn. She received her degree as Diplom-Volkswirtin in 1997. From 1998 to 2002, she was a research assistant at the University of Vienna. In 2002 she received her Ph.D (summa cum laude) from the University of Cologne under the supervision of Herbert Hax. For her dissertation entitled “Investment decisions, motivation and performance measurement” she received the price of the University of Cologne. Alwine has worked as an assistant professor (2002-2008) at the University of Cologne and completed her post-doctoral Habilitation entitled “Incentives and Behavior in Organizations – Theory and Empirical Evidence on Performance Measurement, Feedback and Team Production”. From 2005-2006 she was a visiting scholar at the Stanford University. 2008-2011 she was a full professor at the RWTH Aachen, Department of Business and Economics.Currently, Alwine is a full Professor at the Technical University of Munich,Chair of Coporate Governance.

Alwine has published for instance in the Journal of Labor Economics, Journal of Economic Psychology, Review of Accounting Studies, Betriebswirtschaftliche Forschung und Praxis, Zeitschrift für Betriebswirtschaft, Zeitschrift für Management und Zeitschrift für Personalforschung.

Her research interests include behavioral economics, experimental economics, performance measurement, personnel economics and incentives & sustainability.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in September 2009.
