Christine Valente is a Reader (Associate Professor) in Economics at the University of Bristol, UK. Her main research interests lie in household decisions regarding fertility and human capital investments in developing countries. Her work uses a combination of quasi-experimental, experimental and structural approaches and has been published in journals such as the Journal of Development Economics and Journal of Health Economics.

Valente received an undergraduate degree (“Maîtrise”) and research Master’s degree (“DEA”) from Université Paris 1-Panthéon Sorbonne and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Sheffield in 2001, 2002 and 2008 respectively.

She joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2012.
