Sanjay Jain is Senior Fellow in Economics, and Director of Graduate Studies, in the Department of Economics at Oxford University. Before coming to Oxford, he was a member of the Faculty of Economics at Cambridge University; the department of Economics at the University of Virginia; the department of Economics and the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University; and a lecturer in Economics at Princeton University. He has also been a Visiting Senior Fellow at STICERD in the London School of Economics, and has served as a frequent consultant to the World Bank. His research interests are in development economics, political economy, and applied microeconomic theory. Current research areas include: the political economy of policy reform (with Sumon Majumdar and Sharun Mukand); and microfinance (with Ghazala Mansuri).
He received his PhD in Economics from Princeton University, an MA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and a BA (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.
He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2009.
