Sanjay Jain is Senior Fellow in Economics, and Director of Graduate Studies, in the Department of Economics at Oxford University. Before coming to Oxford, he was a member of the Faculty of Economics at Cambridge University; the department of Economics at the University of Virginia; the department of Economics and the Elliott School of International Affairs at George Washington University; and a lecturer in Economics at Princeton University. He has also been a Visiting Senior Fellow at STICERD in the London School of Economics, and has served as a frequent consultant to the World Bank. His research interests are in development economics, political economy, and applied microeconomic theory.

He received his PhD in Economics from Princeton University, an MA in Economics from Johns Hopkins University, and a BA (Honours) in Economics from St. Stephen’s College, Delhi University.

He joined IZA as a Research Fellow in March 2009.
